Earliest positive Test ?

Hi,
it has probably been asked a million times, but I need to ask again smile.gif !

We are TTC, and I am five days before AF. I feel pregnant since a couple of days, sore breasts, sickly, Happy smile.gif, peeing all the time. I wanted to wait to do the test, but than - I couldn´t. I bought one yesterday, and it said "not pregnant". (I will never buy the digital one again, it is really brutal to have it actually written down on you!)

Now, it says to be done four days before AF, and I am kind of five days before it. (But than, who can say for sure?) and it says to be done first thing in the morning , and I did it last thing in the evening. But part of me thinks, if I would be pregnant, it would have been positiv.

When did your test come up positive?

With my first two I did not realise that I was pregnant until well into the fifth week, so there is no experience.

Thanks!

It all depends. Some women get a positive result about 9 dpo, some don't get it until days after their period is due. It has to do with how your body processes the pregnancy hormone hcg and when the egg implanted and what the egg itself is doing. If you go to fertilityfriend.com you can search and there are women who got their positives very early on, but the average is about 13 dpo, so 1 day before your period is due (on average).

The First Response Early Result advertises that it can pick up hcg 6 days before your period is due.

Good luck!

I've seen women on here test positive as early as 8 DPO - but never with a digital test. The digitals are pretty notorious for being a "late tester" kind of thing, no matter what it says on their packaging.

As Xerxella said, it really is dependant on the individual - and then on top of that, each pregnancy is different. For my BFP I tested negative at 12DPO and positive at 14DPO. So I didn't get a positive until the day before AF would normally arrive for me.

Also, you should take in to account how many DPO you are, instead of how many days until AF. For instance someone who usually has a 10 day luteal phase is very unlikely to be able to get a positive test at the advertised "5 days before your period", which would only be 5 or 6 DPO. But someone with a 14 or 15 day luteal phase might get a positive test 5 days before her period, at 9 or 10 DPO.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

9 or 10 dpo here with faint positive.

With DS, I got a BFP at 10dpo (in the evening) but it was so faint that I threw it out & only later realized it was positive!! (not an evap, DH saw the line within the limit but figured it was too light to count!) It was the first HPT I'd ever taken in my life!

This is exactly how I feel, even though I KNOW the science behind it & that it IS possible to be preg. with a negative result! I'm almost superstitious about it -- weird because I'm not like that with anything else!

I am ~11dpo today & got a negative yesterday (dying to take another but trying to restrain myself)... I read that about 50% of pregnant woman will get a negative test at 10dpo... so you (and I!) still have a chance, but I know it's hard for me to believe that... It seems like 12-13 dpo is when the more reliable negatives occur (though you still can get a false negative even after AF was due!)

I just took a digital too mama! They suck! I hated it so much I ripped the thing apart just to confirm the NO by actually looking at the stick itself. Yes it was still negative although in my head I was hoping it wouldn't be or something...

I too took mine early, my AF isn't due for a couple more days and am now forcing myself not to take the other one for at least 5 more days to try and see more accurately.

I have all the exact symptoms of you, sickly, peeing constantly, tired etc. I am also breaking out more than I ever have for my AF and have had a sore back (could be AF I know). I feel pregnant but then again  I too didn't know I was preggo with DD for nearly 6 weeks, I thought I was jet lagged from a cross country work trip.

Goodluck, just another mama here who will be doing pretty much the same thing you do. Either waiting for AF or dying to take another test. I used the First Response too as supposedly they are the most sensitive but I didn't know about the digital ones being different, DH is the one who bought the digital one, I would never have picked it out.

Hi there,

thanks for all the support. I am kind of a beginner in the ttc field, since I conceived dc either unplanned or very, very quick. So until now I did not really do all the ttc stuff like temp and meds and stuff.

Today I did a bloodtest, which was negative. I am trying to convince myself that a negative bloodtest means that I am really and absolutely not pregnant, but I still feel pregnant :(. It makes me so sad. I am really afraid that the endometriosis I suffered after DS did do something to my fertility. :(

Good luck to you girls!
