Is something wrong with DD's immune system or just bombarded by flu/cold/flu/cold over the past...

So background is DD, 6 years old, usually fights off colds well with vit d, sodium ascorbate vit c and regular natural health remedies. Never had antibiotics, resist going to doctor, wouldnt give motrin/tylenol until this year for extreme fevers. I am just getting worried as we are now going on her third fever with headache and bad cough flu thing in the past 2 months. She has had stomach bugs, bad colds and the last fever flu was 104-105 for 6 days straight. That ended feb. 12 and now she has a fever and cough and headache again. She also always complains of neck pain, but I have conveyed my worry of viral meningitus to the doctor and they said it would appear much worse and not be relieved by the pain meds. I just am about to lose it with so much sickness. Her diet is not the best, very picky with food sensitivities and gets most of her greens from a green juice she will drink. sorry for the ramble, the over-worry, just looking to see if anyone has had this happen and any advice on getting blood tests for her to see if something is really wrong is in order. Any thoughts?

My son's had times when a series of illnesses wears him down and he ends up more vulnerable to the next thing around.  And if one or more of these were stomach bugs, maybe her gut is out of whack?  We all had this horrible time when our digestion was really weird and we got every stomach bug to come around for a while, very not fun.

If that could be it, then probiotics, maybe digestive enzymes depending on whether you think they're appropriate for where you are/what you've tried, you're sure you've got all the food sensitivities out of her diet?

The other thing, for DS, was a series of illnesses that depleted his vitamin A, so a cod liver oil may be reasonable to try--I used high doses of A to acutely treat, that helped me figure out that that was the problem.  And zinc, which may be a likelier suspect, low zinc and digestive issues can go together, and zinc's a biggie for immune function, so supplementing for a while (either higher amounts through an illness to see if it helps, or lower doses that are more appropriate longer-term), see if that helps.

And just in terms of treatment, have you tried cell salts?  Ferr phos for the beginning of an illness has worked wonders around here.  Doesn't really address _why_ she's getting sick, but getting better faster can reduce the stress on her body.

Thank you, I have appreciated your thoughts in other posts as well.  I tend to focus on health in a much more logical and positive manner, but I feel I have been overwhelmed by this "season". Being pregnant and that focus brings a third division of heart and mind too :)

When you refer to cell salts, or ferr phos., are you meaning homeopathy? Maybe I should read into that more, but I do appreciate the thoughts and ideas. I am heading out to boost up again. Do you ever have the blood tested to see these insufficiency or just go by the experimenting with the vit and sups?

Check out the cell salt thread, it's a long one in this forum, it's not really homeopathy, but it's close (but easier--I can mostly figure out cell salts, but homeopathic remedies are very hit-or-miss for me so far).  Here's a description of what cell salts are.

I haven't had to do blood tests so far, for us it's been a combination of a lot of reading, and seeing connections between me, and my health strengths and weaknesses, and what's going on with the kids--the kids mostly show things in different ways, but seeing connections here and there to things... I mean, like zinc: my stretch marks (lots, super early), thyroid and depression problems in me, DD's extreme mouthing of things that was just a lot more than most kids her age and so persistent, DS's getting sick... Some of those had multiple causes (like DS getting sick) but they started to show a pattern.

I think we all go through times when so much is going on, it's hard to step back and see the forest for the trees.  I had plenty of time just trying to cope with the day-to-day.  And sometimes we just need a different perspective, or something else to start us down a new path.
