Hey ladies! I need some encouragement today.

I've been sick on and off since dd's birth and finally went to the doc today. Turns out I've got bronchitis, an ear infection, and a sinus infection. No wonder I feel like poo. He started me on 10 days of amoxicillin.

Any tips/advice for keeping a good supply and having patience for a teething clingy baby while you're very sick yourself? I just feel so wiped out right now.

you poor thing! i hope the antibiotics have you feeling better soon.

my advice:

stay hydrated

ask for help (can someone bring you a homecooked meal?)

try not to eat a lot of refined sugars (i'm thinking of thrush for you or baby)

set taking care of yourself and your babes as the #1 priority, you can catch up on housework etc when you're feeling better.

when my lo is sick and so am i, i try to put myself in her shoes and focus on how she's feeling. to avoid the "why are you doing this to me?" feeling that can be so natural when you're at wit's end, i narrate how we are feeling. ie: "you are so sad and frustrated because you are sick. you can't breathe and you aren't sleeping good, and that makes you cranky. mommy is sick, and i feel tired and cranky too. we will have to try to to patient with each other until we feel better. i hope we feel better soon." somehow getting it all out makes me feel better in the moment.

good luck, mama! hang in there hug2.gif

Lots of sympathy for me. I am on my second bout of tonsilitis in two months and feeling very sorry for myself.

I agree with all Patronus' suggestions. Especially keeping well hydrated and doing only essential tasks. Is your partner able to help at all? Or other family or friends? On my worst days DH took over everything but BFing so I could rest. I see from your sig that you have other children but even a short rest or nap each day might make a difference.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

When I'm sick I remind myself that I'd rather be nursing than having to mess with cleaning bottles and preparing formula. I was sick for about 3 weeks in the fall. I kept as hydrated as I could and ended losing about 5 lbs that I'd be trying to lose for a while.
