Safest meat options? organic, grass-fed...

I am so lost about what kind of meat to buy for my family! I thought we were doing the right thing by getting everything from Whole Foods, since they say they don't support anything with GMOs, but after that Huffington Post article, I guess I was wrong.

We do not want to eat any meat that was fed GMO foods. We also do not want to eat meat that comes from vaccinated animals (WF told us none of their meats have been vaxed, but I really don't know what to believe now). We would also like humane living conditions for the animals, and I know that organic doesn't mean anything with regards to living conditions.

Should we be buying organic meat? Grass-fed? Something else? I would like info on beef and chicken and eggs, so any thoughts are helpful. Thanks!

I'd go with grassfed beef.  They may not be "organic" but if a person is raising them to be fed only grass, that means they live on grass, so living conditions should be better. No grain means no gmo's unless its in the hay they're fed.

I'd look into more local sources. You can see where/how they live, talk to the farmer, etc.  We raise our own and they only eat grass and organic hay.  We do vax new babies for something (can't remember and dh's in class right now), but otherwise we don't at all.

For chicken and eggs, we just go with free range.  Mostly because I can get eggs for free that have only eaten chicken scratch (along with whatever they find) and while it may be gmo and definitely not organic, I feel that's still better than eating conventional, caged chicken eggs.
