After reading a post on The Connected Mom, I found myself thinking about how I soothe my children. I'll be honest and say that I don't really know how to soothe Jack, because his screaming tantrums seem to happen frequently. I'm unsure how to to handle it, because a lot of times if I try to do something (hold him, off a drink, snack ect) it seems to make the screaming last longer/get louder. How do you soothe your special needs child?Â

Bear hugs if she wants them, or sometimes she offering her a fluffy toy to love on when she doesn't want me around, that's what works best. When she's calm enough we use nvc, and empathising, to work through the issue if possible. Also, Bach's flower rescue remedies stress relief pastilles work great too.

Google Bach Flower Essences or "Rescue Remedy"
Â
Flower essences are special formulas, similar to homeopathic medicines, no side effects, very safe and easy to use. There are dozens of them, but the one called Rescue Remedy is a very popular one to choose for minor upsets or anxiety, esp if you're not sure what to choose. There are very specific ones that you can study up on in a health food store or on line.Â
Â
I've used them w/my dogs and client's dogs for years w/great success. I have used RR a time of two w/my kids, too. Works very well.
