DD1 has molluscum contgiousum. She's had it for a few years now, nobody else in the household has it. A month ago she came down with a sudden redness all over her, started at her feet and she turned completely red. Doctor said it was viral and it went away a couple days later.
Last week, dh tore up an carpet and she broke out in really ugly rash on her knees and elbows which spread up a bit to her limbs. Doctor said it was a fungal infection from the carpet and gave us some meds to help it clear up faster. It went away and two days later she has super red cheeks and another different rash all over her body. Again nobody else has these rashes just her. So the doctor says he doesn't know what the thing on her cheeks is. It could be 6th disease but he doubts it because she has no other symptoms. I suspect it's exzema (sp?) as we've turned the heat on this week and it's been dry in here. The new rash on her body is apparently scabies which he suspects is also from the carpet we ripped up (new to us house).
Now he says the rashes are not connected. But then he also said he doesn't believe in allergy testing because "what are you going to do, avoid the food forever?" Doctors are extremely limited here, he's the only one at the ER. Now I get that a viral, fungal, and mite rash are not from the same thing but there's got to be something making her so susceptible to them?
I suffered from allergies and asthma for most of my life but the kids have all been super healthy with the exception of weird skin rashes. DD1 as described above and dd2 has rosacea? (red cheeks) and chicken skin on her arms.
Any thoughts? We're deworming right now. We have farm animals and figured it was time we started deworming ourselves.
