So thankful I applied for Fuel Assistance!

...and I didn't even know that such a thing existed until I saw a post about it on this board! Things have been so difficult for us financially the past couple of years. DH's company collapsed and we've really been struggling to get our feet underneath us. I hate having to ask for help and took me a lot of courage to call about fuel assistance, but I swallowed my pride and did it in Nov.  Well, I got a letter that we had qualified for for some money (Kind of bittersweet :"Phew" but at the same time "I can't believe we qualify for public assistance") It wasn't much, but I was grateful, as every little bit helps. Well, today I called to settle our oil account (dh borrowed some money from a friend) and it turns out they DOUBLED our assistance, so we actually have a small credit on our account!  Anyway, not like I can call up my friends and tell them how grateful I feel about it, but I needed to tell SOMEONE how relieved I am. So you guys are it :)

I remember when I applied for electric assistance in AZ- basically to afford the A/C.  I felt awful, like who should need help for air conditioning.  But when I got the assistance it was wonderful.  Mine was the equivelant of 1 1/2 bills a month spread out over the year.  I know the relief when the credits start appearing.
