Money concepts...help

Thread Starter

My kids are having a hard time with money concepts.  Beginning stuff.  Like 10 pennies is = to a dime.  How many dimes make 20 cents.  Help?  Is there a website or something I can do to make it "click"?  They are just *not* getting it.  They are 5 and 7.

Hi, I'm not sure how helpful these would be but you can give these sites a try:

I used these with my son then did some practice with him and made a pretend store.

I put real money in to a jar. Then I started with learning the value of the coins. Then moved on to the same things over and over, like...4 quarters in a dollar, and then which coins together make a dollar. Make sure they know to skip count and stay on one coin for a while before you move on. I actually made a chart with real coins taped to it labeling how much each coin was worth.
