Very Loose Stools: What's the Cause? *update in OP*

I'll just go ahead and give this post a TMI warning. winky.gif

DH has always (since I've known him) had really loose stools.  Sometimes it's practically liquid and he says that it burns when he uses the restroom.  His stomach often (if not always) hurts just before, during, and after going to the restroom.  I really don't consider this "normal" but have never really looked into it.

Well, DD1 has started having similar bathroom experiences.  She seems to have gotten her father's digestive system.  Sometimes she'll have a more "normal" stool, usually it's pretty loose.  She has at least one very watery one that makes her complain about her stomach hurting probably every other day.

I know this isn't a stomach virus or something.  So is this just the way they are made?  Or is it a food intolerance of some sort?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Update from post #6:

OP here:   Thanks for all of the responses.

A lot of what was said, though, is lost on me. lol. (Grain damage, Dysbiosis, etc.)

Where would you guys start?  What would you eliminate or add in first to see if it makes a difference?  Dairy?  Add in probiotics?

...the answers have me thinking as well:  DD1 occasionally complains of her vagina hurting.  I know she doesn't have a UTI and I've begun to suspect that its a recurrent yeast infection, but everytime I'm ready to call the pedi over it, she doesn't mention it anymore (it seems to come and go...).  The next time she complains about it, I think we'll go to the dr., maybe the stool and the complaints about hurting are related?

Lots of things could cause this, the first that come to my mind are:

Celiac disease

Lactose intolerance

Other food intolerance

H. pylori

Parasites

Dysbiosis

SIBO

This was DDs poop too.  It was the consistency of mousse.. and when you would flush the toilet it would all separate.  She said it burned.  We are on week three of complete dairy elimination and her poop is the most normal I have ever seen it.  Her pedi said gluten could be the culprit too.  looking at the diet is the best option!

My thoughts were chronic yeast overgrowth, dairy intolerance and grain damage.

Just loose stool? No (TMI) blood or mucous? Celiac and C diff came to my mind. I'd schedule an appt witht he doc on Monday and discuss. No need to wait for it to happen again. DH also needs to get checked out. There can be some serious issues and some of them can be passed on and others can't. I'd want to know what is going on with both of them.
