I'm really trying to set up a super detailed budget. What am I missing from the below list? Life & Medical Insurance are deducted from dh's paycheck automatically.

Car maintenance: oil changes, new tires, scheduled tuneups, unscheduled repairs, registration fees, drivers' license renewal fees

Pets: make sure you include scheduled *and* unscheduled vet visits, food, any other supplies (cat litter, guinea pig bedding, whatever)

Does anyone wear eyeglasses or contact lenses?

Personal spending money/allowance. Even if it is $20 a month. Money for indulgences that you don't have to justify.

Savings: emergency fund, goals, debts if you have any, for taxes if you will need to pay more

Bigger household expenses like furniture. I like to differentiate between things that get used up and things that don't

I can't believe I forgot car maintenance   

I've debated about putting a personal category in there but we don't have any spending money. Once in a blue moon I'll go to coffee with a friend but I put that under the dining out category. Despite my desperate pleas, dh is refusing again to give up his sodas and granola bars and lunches at work so that's why I have the fast food/vending category. So I guess we do have spending money - we just eat it all 

Every other month or so MIL will babysit for free and dh and I will go to a movie which I put under entertainment - that's really the only thing that goes in that category other than some random $10 here and there for things like festivals for dd that charge admission in the summer.

I didn't think about the furniture. If my couch were to break I think we'd be sitting on the floor for a while ...lol.
