I have the hardest time finding any maternity clothes that are flattering. The other day I tried on a top with navy blue horizontal stripes around the bust (wtf??? Why is horizontal stripes appropriate for a pregnant lady?) that also had these delicate little bows ties on the shoulder. Sorry you were upset, but I'm giggling because I wonder who the heck designs maternity clothes?!?!  I remember looking for a cute dress when I was pg with DS and a bunch of them either had spaghetti straps or a racer type back. um, how are you supposed to wear a bra with that?!?! 

I found some half decent jeans at Macys actually.  I think they just started to carry some Motherhood Maternity.  But the ones that are actually attractive are Gap Long & Lean which is what I wear around when Im not prego.

I am hating the clothing situation right now as well. I REALLY did not want to buy any stuff this time around as we are DONE after this baby. BUT since the other 2 were born in different seasons, and I am showing earlier than with the 1st one, I'm having a hard time. I have lots of summer stuff I like-that's what I bought for the 1st. The winter stuff I mostly inherited, and it's almost all size M/L when I'm a S/M. So it's too big. AND we're having this in-between weather-Thursday it was 40 in the morning but got to a high of 70-and I left the house in the morning and didn't return until later in the afternoon. Those days are hard enough to dress for when you're NOT pregnant. Oh, and I have long legs for my height, so it's hard to find pants that fit when I'm NOT pregnant;add in pregnancy and everything that fits around is too short.

My solution:
1) complain a lot
2) I just bought a lot of cardigans on sale at Gap yesterday, non-maternity, that I can wear open over some tees/tanks until the weather stabilizes a little
3) I did end up buying a few pairs of pants- couple jeans and 1 pair of cords, to get me through until I can wear my shorts and gaucho capris again.
4) complain some more

My other complaint (and oh so superficial, LOL) is that I was JUST starting to really re-work my wardrobe and get rid of stuff and buy stuff that was more ME when I got pregnant. And now my efforts are totally stalled until after this baby comes and I get to whatever size and shape I'm going to end up. I'm so bummed.

Kelly- I am feeling you on the clothes!  Totally!  I refuse to buy any maternity clothes.  Maternity pants are ridiculously short on my long legs unless I fork over $75 for Gap maternity jeans again.  I refuse to spend that much money on pants I will only wear for the next 3 months.  I'm using a belly band for now and while it sucks pretty bad at keeping my pants up, it's just going to have to do.  I know I'll eventually have to buy some maternity shirts because I'm already getting big in my old fat shirts.  I'm glad I lost some weight before I got pregnant or I wouldn't even have fat clothes to work with.  lol.  Too bad I gained it all back already.

It was quite funny. I put it on  thinking "OH soo there's stripes AND bows" and I looked so ridiculous that it was funny. But everything I tried onthat day was just awful.

I actually only bought 2 things last time I was pregnant.... most everything was hand me downs or just my fat clothes :) Suddenly I can't fit ANYTHING this pregnancy... even my fat clothes, though I haven't gained but 2lbs. I ended up ordering a few things from old navy. It's not my favorite store, but it didn't cost a lot of money, so I don't feel terrible spending money on clothes to wear for a few months.

I wondered about the spaghetti straps too! The girls need a bra!

Shopping for clothes has been my worst pregnancy experience so far.  NOTHING seems to fit correctly.   They told me to buy "true to size" but I try to put on some med shirts and the only way I'm getting out of it if I put it all the way on is to cut it off

It's been so frustrating!!!!  I just got to the point where I can kind of wear low rise maternity pants without them completely falling off.  Maternity wear stinks so far!

I went looking at Target last night.  It was a humorous experience to say the least.  My sister just now noticed that they have maternity right next to plus size so she loudly announced that it was b.s.  LOL.  I tried on a pair of maternity capris.  They are the khaki drawstring-on-the-calf kind.  It made me look like I was wearing MC Hammer's pants if you catch my drift.  I found a couple acceptable shirts, but at $17/each I just think I'll suck it up for now.  They were long sleeve anyway.  I'm going to need short sleeve here in a minute.  I left the department thinking about this thread and chuckling to myself.

LOL and when I shop in the plus size section I get excited because I see something cute and its maternity. Could they not put the sections right by each other? It's just awkward for everyone involved.

Thanks to my rural Canadian home, maternity clothes are really hard to find.  I found some jeans that made my husband happy, but only because they are so tight... why do they only made S, M L and XL?  I am inbetween M and L... one is baggy, the other look like leggings!  I decided to make my husband happy and bought the tight jeans... hopefully they fit until we get some summer... mind you I just dug my car out of 1 foot of fresh snow!  It could be a while!

Ah the joys of clothes.  Ugh.  I have a few pairs of shorts that are full panel that fall off the entire time I wear them.  I hate full panel!  I have to wear a belly band like a belt with them just for extra support. It is so annoying, luckily I didn't buy them - they're borrowed, but I'm still going to wear them just because that's less stuff to buy (and more things to complain about). 

The under the belly bottoms so far are the way to go.  Love them!  They don't do anything annoying and feel so comfy - as long as they're the right size.  I'm actually going to try to get out today and go get another pair from Target.  I realized that I'm going to be re-wearing my bottoms far more than I want on my cruise if I don't get some more. 

Ditto the spagettti straps dilemma.  I have a few little short sleeve cotton covers that I'm going to use, but I'd rather not have to.  They totally change the look of the top, but better that than having the girls free.

I'm having the worst time finding clothes too!  I did find a skirt from old navy that was cheap and is super comfy.  I'm going to try to make a couple more in different colors for variety.  Now I just need some decent shoes.  I can't wear my comfy boots anymore cuz my calves swell too much by the end of the day and it's becoming too difficult to bend over and tie my shoes so I need some slip-ons.  Unfortunately it's not exactly slip-on shoe weather yet in the frigid midwest! 

DH and I went to our first birthing class.  It's a Bradley class.  It was ok.  I was seriously uncomfortable sitting on her hard-ass floor with 8 other couples crammed into the tiny living room.  UGH!  I could hardly pay attention.  I think my bitchy mood is coming forth, I can't seem to focus on anything positive lately.  All I could think about last night was how am I supposed to eat 80-100 grams of protein a day and do all these exercises?  I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and started eating meat again just so I could increase my protein intake and I still can't enough.  Plus eating all the other things on the list?   I mean how the heck does anyone have to time do anything but eat and do pelvic rocks?  I have to work ya know?!  Sorry, I just had to vent a little...

Yesterday all day I had this horrible feeling that my DH was just going to up and leave me and the baby.  I just kept imaging him saying "I didn't think it was going to be like this, I can't handle it".  By the time I got home from work I was an emotional basket case.  Poor guy couldn't understand why I was sobbing when I walked in the door.  I have no reason to believe that he would ever do that to us but for some reason I was just feeling vulnerable yesterday. 

Sorry about the rambling chat...  I just really needed to get all that off my chest!

Libby - Sorry you had a rough day yesterday.  I found the only way I can really get in a good amount of protien is by drinking protien shakes.  They really aren't great tasting, but adding fruit and yogurt does seem to help.  Sometimes I'll make a peanut butter banana shake with the chocolate mix, and blueberry + yogurt in the vanilla mix.  There are some whey kinds with natural sugars at the health food stores.

Since we're on the topic of clothing...I just went to Destination Maternity and really honestly almost got into a full blown argument with the sales woman about belly panels.  Luckily DH called right before I really got going.  Sales woman asked if she could help me find anything and I said no because all they have is the "Secret Belly Fit" and I wanted below the waist.  She was insisting that "Secret Belly Fit" is the only good kind of pants, that under the belly will dig eventually, and a bunch of other nonsense.  Nevermind the fact that I told her I wore under the belly the entire time with my DS1 and want MORE, she just kept going on and on.  Just before I got the call from DH she started to say I'd be hard pressed to find any under the belly pants (even though I've purchased several pair already).  Isn't the customer always right?  My goodness.  All she needed to say was "The full panel is the popular style now so that's generally all we carry." and not go off on some freaking tangent.  Wtf?

Thanks!  I needed a hug!  And thanks for the shake suggestion, I'm going to start adding protein to my fruit smootie in the morning.  Plus I found a Naked protein smoothieat Whole Foods that has 30 grams in it.  SCORE!!!!

I just got mine off ebay (from hypnobabies for $135 plus $12 shipping.  It included 4 "free" mp3 downloads.

Thought it was a pretty good deal seeing I didn't feel like waiting around to bid and bid and bid and maybe never win. 

There was a momma in the Aug DDC I think looking to sell her's privately--that might be a thought as well.

mamahen2coop: I bought mine from Hypnobabies off of Ebay as well. It's new, $135 plus shipping and you get 4 MP3 tracks. I couldn't find a better deal than that anywhere else - heck even the used ones on ebay sell for basically the same price. It arrived in less than a week and I got my MP3s right away. Now I just hope I get the great results others seem to get with it!
