Trying to find care to do either a HBA2c or a VBA2c in the Chicago area

I live in the NW suburbs and I'm trying to find anyone that will let me do a VBA2c or a HBA2c

Dr Dan Pesavento (Good Shepherd, Barrington) agreed to do it after one.  I imagine he'd have no problem with 2 as long as there was enough time between deliveries.

I will check him out. I have found LOTS that will do a VBAC after 1 but no one that will do one after 2.

UIC does them (or did as of a couple of years ago).  Typically those patients see the doctors rather than the midwives, but I think if you request it you can see both and they will "comanage" your care.  Good luck!

Cassie you're in the same boat I am!  Personally, I would ONLY go with the midwives at University of Illinois Medical Center.  Everyone else (at best) says, "Well, we'll see as we get closer."  Really what they're saying is, "I'll talk you out of it later."  IMO - Head somewhere that truly supports a VBA2C.

I would definitely get ahold of your local ICAN.  There's one in Chicago and one in Dupage.  I'm not sure of anywhere else, but check the ICAN web page for more information.

I know it's a trip all the way into the city, but if it means we'll get a VBA2C, I think it's worth it.  There are no official midwives (Certified Nurse Midwives) who would do a HBA2C.  You would have to go with a direct entry midwife.

Good luck!  When are you due?

I'm due October 31st!

Dr. Phyllis Marx at Women's Medical Group in Skokie is very, very encouraging of VBACs and has been known to support VBA2c.  I can't remember what her qualifiers are, but I know she is rather open minded when it comes to birth options.  Might be worth giving her a call!

Hi Cassie!

I also second the UIC midwives. If they cannot take you, try Dr. Hibbard at UIC. They are both fantastic and have a great reputation for VBAC support.

If you are looking for something closer, you can call Dr. Hubka at Swedish Covenant and see if she accepts VBAC clients.

Are you paying out of pocket, or do you need to rely on your health insurance? If you are paying out of pocket, I know a woman who had an HBAC (in Chicago) with a travelling midwife. She did her prenatal care with a local provider and birthed at home with the midwife. Let me know if you'd her contact info.

Best wishes!

As of right now my options are open so I would love the contact info for the midwife.

Hi Cassie,

I had a successful natural no medication VBA2C 1/11/11 at Prentice! I would be happy to tell you about it and help you with any questions you may have!

Rita from http://www.mothermeinc.com/  was with me and was the reason I was able to do it!

My doc was Scott Moses at NMPG.

I was also had the help of Jennifer at the Nest http://thenestchicago.com/practitioners/

Please let me know if I can help in anyway!
