Urine Odor?

I've just recently noticed a very strong urine odor in my 11 month old....is this normal?  In the past few months we have gotten to where we just double or triple line his cloth diapers with inserts at night so we don't have to change him during the night.  This has gone well though the odor is strong in the morning...which I would expect.  What I did not expect is within the past week or two, even during the day when he only goes about 2 hours, the smell has been rather strong.  During the night even last night I ended up changing him midway through the night simply because of the smell of the urine.  Is this normal?  Can it just be caused by an increase of solid foods?  He's wetting as much as he always has so I feel his fluid intake is still good.  I'm just wondering if other mammas have noticed the same thing??

You might want to post over in Diapering, but my guess would be that your diapers just need a good stripping.  Build-up can cause that strong ammonia smell as soon as they get even the littlest bit wet.  I have to boil DD's overnight diapers periodically or we have the same problem.  Good luck!

I've found vinegar in the rinse water to be very effective.  I've never stripped them.

I have stripped them....so I'm not sure that's the problem. I use BG and they say specifically not to use vinegar...I guess I'll try the diapering forum...I just thought it was his urine, not the diaper.....I'm still thinking it may have to do with his increase of table foods...thought someone may comment on that?
