Boric acid capsules while pregnant?!

Hello :)

I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant and am on antibiotics for a bacterial lung/sinus infection that I've had for the past7- 8 weeks (yes. 8 weeks.) I have 5 days left of antibiotics and am battling a yeast infection on top of it all. ugh! My midwives gave me boric acid capsules awhile back as a precautionary medication because I felt a yeast infection coming on before Christmas and didn't want to be stuck away from home with no remedies. It ended up clearing up on its own, thankfully, but I have decided that it is time to take action! I have 14 capsules, 2 a day for 7 days. I am assuming that my midwives wouldn't have given them to me if they weren't safe (duh) but everywhere I read on the internet is like OH MY GOSH NEVER USE BORIC ACID WHILE PREGNANT OR YOUR BABY WILL BE BORN EARLY etc etc etc...

:/

Has anyone safely used it? Any midwives out there that can tell me what is up?

My MW recommended them to me in my last two pregnancies. I used them. Babes were born at 38.6 and 39.1 after SROM each time...FWIW.

I don't think there is really *any* research out there on boric acid suppositories during preg and I found the same thing you did when I went looking. I had already tried EVERYTHING else, though, so I decided to do it.
