Moving to really small apartment

Hi, I have been inspired by many threads here, maybe you can help me some more..

My partner and I plan to move into a bigger apartment.

At the moment he lives in an apartment with two almost rooms of about the same size. One is used as a bedroom the other as living room.

I live with my child (5) in an apartment with 3 rooms, one of which is really small and works as a dining room, since the kitchen is so tiny (only one person can be in it at the same time).

Moving directly to a bigger apartment with living room and two bedrooms would mean to pay for 3 apartments for at least two months.

That is out of the question.

So we decided to all move into his apartment for a few months to save rent and to only have to pay for two apartments when we will have found the bigger one.

I have lots of furniture which will mostly be stored in between moves.

His apartment is only 540 sqf, so it will be quite crammed.

We plan to put my childs toys and his small drawing table into the living room. And we will build him a bunkbed with our piano underneath.

But do you have any idea how to store the other toys?

There won´t be much space for shelves.

And where will I store my childs and my clothes?

Thanks for reading!

I think that purging would be key. Only 1 week's worth of clothing for everyone only the toys he plays with every day or at least ___ times per week. My dd would survive with just her books, arts and crafts and maybe a doll, some dress-up and maybe 3 set of toys (polly pockets, squinkies those annoying type of things she loves so much).

I love Ikea.  Not just for buying, but for storage and space planning ideas.  They are great at squeezing a lot of stuff into little space.

Agree with the other poster - purge and simplify.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

I went to Ikea and will probably buy a few plastic storage boxes for toys.

I am going to purge many things this week.
