Online Savings Accounts?

Thread Starter

We have an emergency fund and some other money that we're saving up to buy a larger house in the next year or two. This totals over $20K. Currently we have this at our local credit union, in some sort of money market account. I think it earns .5%.

We then have another $3 or $4K that we keep in a regular savings for unexpected expenses and home repairs. Our monthly budget usually has only $100 to $300 left over, so we do end up using this money pretty often.

So we do need some money we can access immediately, but maybe the 20K could be kept in some sort of online savings account? I'd like to earn a bit more interest, if possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

We use ingdirect.com. The interest on their savings is only 1% right now but it's better than the .5% you are getting now. I don't think any of the online banks have any better rates right now. greensad.gif

We're with ING, too.

1ish% is about as good as it gets right now...sorry. I'm SO missing the 5% interest days...
