DS (5) wants to grow out his hair

Any moms of boys with long hair out there??

DH had long hair for a long time, and DS didn't get his first haircut until he was 2 or 3. He's decided he wants to grow it out but it's in that awkward middle stage where we need to do SOMETHING to keep it out of his eyes. Mousse and gels don't actually hold it back (it's straight and stubborn so always falls back straight).

Is there any magic solution I don't know about??

Little ponytails. Otherwise you just have to wait it out.

my son is growing out his hair and uses gel to keep it off his face/out of his eyes. Regular gel didn't work, you have got to get the punk rock spiking gel. We use Got2B brand.

DS's is mid-back. We just waited it out until he could put it behind his ears. He was hellbent on no ponytails/headbands.

Wait it out.  My oldest grows his out every so often and we just deal with it until it's long enough.

  Yup, just gotta wait it out.  Did that with dh back in highschool, and we'd do it now if ds would like to grow his back out.  But it's currently neck length as is.

how about a baseball cap? (or other type of hat) it will help keep it out of his face but a little more... 'boyish' (sorry only word i could come up with) then a headband.

We used small hair pins to hold it back. barely visible until it was long enough for ponytails. It is well below mid back now so no worries :)
