Recommendations?? Lack of Period and not Ovulating.

Thread Starter

I have been off the Pill since September last year. When I got off the Pill my period still hadn't started in December so I went to an OB doctor. He told me that I may have a problem so he induced my period, and then told me to use the Ovulation urine test strip to see if I ovulated. I did not ovulate during that month. My period again would not start so he induced it again. And again did the ovulation tests...and again did not ovulate. He then said he was going to do an EMB biopsy, and then possibly put me on clomid.

After all this I decided not to do the biopsy and just give my body time to "recover" from the Pill. I had had very irregular periods my whole life, so I just figured that I needed to give my body time.

My question is...how long is too long when I haven't had a period? When should I worry? Should I have gone with the Clomid? What other option are there that could help me get my system back to normal?

I'm right there with you....I'm not sure when I should start worrying about my lack of AF  I'm on CD 102 headscratch.gif  I remember only getting AF every 3-4 months or so in high school and they just naturally evened out to exact 28-day cycles, which is when I got pregnant with DS.  Post DS, my cycles have been 30-70 days long....until this one here, which of course happens to be right when we want to try for #2, lol

I'll be stalking this thread, I hope we both find an answer to this question, GOOD LUCK!!

ETA:  DS is still nursing, so I think part of my irregularity (right now, at least) is because of that.

It took my husband and I about 6 months to get pregnant, which isn't much, and probably even normal.  But I know during the course of those 6 months my stress level was somewhat high, I was malnourished, and I was stressing about getting pregnant.  Once I let go of all the anxiety and starting eating healthy, I got pregnant quickly.  But, I think there are quite a variety of things that can happer our fertility and you can sit down and write a list of all those things to change or take out that would defitely help your fertility, and then another list of things to change or take out of what might help.  Take one thing at a time or do lots of them all at once, but don't get too anxious- it defeats the purpose.  Baby making is supposed to be beautiful and magical and peaceful and fun.

Lots of love you way.

P.S.

I forgot to mention I had really irregular periods also- not very many.  I never really thought much of it when I wasn't trying to conceive.   I am active and move and travel a lot, so I assumed it was normal for me.  I think once some stability came into my life that helped me too.

Thanks for sharing. How did you "let go of all the anxiety?" I'm just starting the TTC journey, but I know my mind over-thinks things and I assume I'll be doing so much over-analysis that I'll affect my cycle. Worrying before worry is called for!

I truly felt called to have kids, but I knew if God had other plans, He would provide the way.  His plans are to prosper us and not to harm us to give us hope and a future.  He is the only One who can truly create life, we are just the facilitators.  So, why stress about something we cannot truly control?  It's like stressing about the weather- might as well just enjoy it instead of dreading what may or may not be.

I stopped stressing when I realized it would only make my marriage worse and my life miserable.  It's fun to learn things along the way about our bodies and how to be a better steward of  it, but all the while realize that God did create our bodies fearfully and wonderfully.

I was on the pill for about 10 yrs. I was off the pill for 2 yrs before conceiving. I have had problems w/ progesterone since (ovulating late, short luteal phase, infertility, low BBT etc). Do you have any children yet?  I have had 2 daughters but my 2nd has been weaned for 3 mo now and I still haven't ovulated or gotten AF. I recently stumbled across info about adrenal insufficiency/cortisol deficiency problems. I think that this might be the base of my problems (ongoing hormone problems is what I'm concerned about now). I'm going to have a saliva adrenal test done (including progesterone) to see where I stand and then take it from there. I don't know how long you were on the pill but I personally feel the pill really messed up my body...now I'm just trying to "get my head above water" and have my body work like it's supposed to.

You may want to look into adrenal insufficiency as well...
