I would like some tips or links if you know of any. Seems fairly straight forward. Just drain the water and refill it without chlorine, but then how to prevent algae and/or harmful microbes in those days when you are waiting for the birth? Salt? Colloidal silver? Baking soda? Have you done this?

Using your own hot tub or jacuzzi instead of a birth tub?

We have a jacuzzi bathtub, which we're planning on using for labor (though I won't necessarily give birth in it). My basic thought now is that we'll keep it very clean up until I start labor, and then we'll re-disinfect and no one uses until I'm ready to get in. We have sort of an old-school jacuzzi, so the jets kind of get gunky. Right now, to clean it I'll sometimes fill the tub and use non-chlorine bleach and run the jets. Also, I'm a huge fan of filling the tub with water, and then pouring in white vinegar and letting it soak a few hours. I'll usually pour baking soda now. I know this is probably not at all what you were asking, and I'm sorry I'm not more helpful. It sounds like you have a heating mechanism for the water though, right?
