Hi from Australia...or should I say G'day?

Hi everyone!

I am new to the community and very excited to be able to learn from and interact with such a lovely bunch of women! I am 22 years old and live in Australia. DH and I have been married for nearly 4 years, and have been TTC since May 2009. We have our first appointment with the Dr tomorrow to start the infertility testing journey. I figured now would be a good time to look to others for guidance and support, and hopefully help others out along the way. Next step: learn the lingo! There are so many abbreviations, now I know how my Gma felt while learning how to text lol. Thank you for having me!

T. Lynn

Hi and welcome!

I'm from Australia too, NSW, and have 2 kidlets. One was the result of intra-uterine insemination, and one from IVF.

Hope you enjoy reading all the forums on Mothering.

Hi Cheryll! Are you enjoying the site? I am, it's so great to know we're not alone.

Thanks for the welcome Peppermint Poppies, Congrats on your two lovely successes! I'm in QLD...isn't Australia the best! After finishing GP visit, urine test, blood tests, pelvic U/S and transvaginal U/S, the only thing I paid for out of pocket was my folic acid tablets.

Hi Cari, thanks for the welcome! I have four brothers so I can kind of imagine what life at your house must be like :). Forgot to say that DH and I are living in the Sunshine Coast region, but we lived S-side Brisbane for about 2 years before moving here.

We are getting the results of our testing to see what's causing our infertility on Tuesday 22. It only just occurred to me that my treatment may be referred to a specialist once getting the results from the GP. Anyone know if this is the case? PP if you don't mind me asking, were your IUI and IVF done through your GP or an RE?

My GP made the referral to a private OB for our initial investigations, then we were referred to Queensland Fertility Group for IVF.  The IUI baby was a surprise in the middle of IVF treatments.

Thanks!

I guess I could update huh? All my tests resulted in the diagnosis of PCOS. My dr has referred me to an OB who is the head doctor at a local fertility clinic. I have that appointment in May. In the meantime I'm just trying to stay positive and possibly get PG on our own (wouldn't that be nice!?)

I have definitely found MDC to be full of resources, information and people always willing to share their advice and experiences. Thanks for all of your support! Good luck to anyone else TTC, or in need of luck for another reason :).
