Neat site for "Living Math" ideas.

I'm constantly trying to find natural ways for my children to learn math, writing, etc. instead of a sit-down curriculum, since they enjoy it so much more, and also seem to learn a lot more this way. I just came across this site and it has some great ideas for math - you have to dig around a bit but lots of good stuff, including a yahoo group if you are so inclined.

ETA:

Now I am on the search for something similar regarding writing. If anyone has ideas in that area, I'm all ears :)

Thank you!  I had that site before, and lost it, and couldn't find it even though I had people asking me for it.  =)

For writing, I do not have a great site.  But I will share what my DC enjoy doing.

When they are really into something, I will encourage them to get a blank paper and 'make a page' on it.  So they could draw a picture and label it, write a poem, write a paragraph, whatever.  They sometimes get out the art supplies and get really into it.

Then I punch it with a three-hole puncher and we put it in their binder.  One binder is general interesting things (storms, animals, electricity, etc), and the other is for things we can put in order chronologicially, for people/history things or present events around them or in their own lives.

I like it because it's not forced, it's after their interests, and the pages they do are really neat.  They can also be taken out and redone or added to when they feel like it.
