What am I hearing?

I was listening the little one this AM with the fetoscope and heard something new down in the lower left belly area. I haven't listened in a couple weeks. Anyway, it was very loud compared to the other uterus sounds. It was in time with my heartbeat, but sounded........I don't know how to explain it. Not really whoosh, but sort of. It had a definite pulse and was loud. Kind of like if you listened to my artery underwater. Does that make any sense? Was this the placenta or something else?

I thought so at first, but on reading a bit, it seems I shouldn't be feeling much kicking/movement down there and that's where a lot of movement is. I think the baby is head down and facing my left side. I get lots of wiggling down in the section where I heard these sounds and lots of kicking on the same side but higher up.

Does it come and go? Is it constant?

Rapid hiccups?

Don't think it's the placenta...

Are you hearing the heartbeat, but just in a lower area, if the baby has dropped or shifted position?

It's most definitely not the baby. I heard it's HB on the other side.  Like I said, it's timed the same as my pulse, I just don't know what it actually is.

It's got to be your pulse! :D

My midwives said they could hear my pulse and the baby's pulse.

I think it's the placenta.  I have listened to a lot of bellies, and it's either that your your heartbeat.  The placenta is definitely much louder than almost any other sound you will hear in your belly.

my guess would be either the placenta or a blood vessel of yours somewhere in your pelvis/abdomen.

I think it's that. I was looking up something else last night and came across the term 'uterine soufle' (sp?) Anyway, apparently there's a uterine artery that runs up the side of the uterus. It's supposed to be very loud.
