Atopic dermatitis outbreak

Hi,

my DD has a pretty bad dermatitis outbreak, she has atopic dermatitis since she was very young, (I have it as well, stupid genes) but not very severe, usually in her elbows sometime tiny patches somewhere else, I did put a bit of steroids on it, since she hates creams, but now she has it on her entire back and belly, it looks pretty horrible, as if she was whipped by somebody. I cannot put steroids all over her body, and now I am kind of lost in what to do.

Normally I am quite strict in choosing her cloth, as in only natural fibers and silk and wool and only second hand cotton cloth (since it has been washed a million times) but she got a couple of "princess" dresses from the older neighbourhood girls, and she loved them, and kind of wore them constantly. Pretty much pure plastic. Do you think this might have caused the problem? I already told her that she cannot wear the dresses until she is much better, but what should I do otherwise?

She is sleeping naked now, because everything is itching, (but I will put pajamas on her before we go to bed, so that she cannot scratch herself any more!

Thanks for your suggestions!

Do some research on Neem oil.  We use it diluted in California Baby or Un-Petroleum Jelly on eczema spots.  It is has antibacterial/healing/anti-pain properties.  Ever tried raw honey?

Sounds like the dresses may have caused it, unless she has eaten something that caused the outbreak.  Sounds like it may just need some time to run it's course and heal like it has in the past...keep it well moisturized.  She may not like creams, but they can only help!
