Sex and Mucus Plug?

Hi,

I am 39 weeks pregnant and started losing bits of my mucus plug yesterday. I was wondering if it's still safe to have sex?

It is safe to have intercourse unless your water has broken.

It is normal for pieces of the mucus plug to start coming out towards the end of pregnancy, but it regenerates. It's like the mucus from your nose. Even if you blow your nose, that doesn't mean you've emptied all mucus from your nose, forever. It comes back. Same thing with the mucus plug!

Seeing parts of the mucus plug means your cervix is changing a bit, but it doesn't necessarily mean labor is close. You could be in labor tonight, or you could still be waiting a week + from now. ;)
