TMI warning - friend with strange symptoms

My friend is at a loss. Maybe some of you will have thoughts/suggestions for her.

TMI – it involves the private parts – stop now unless you don’t mind the topic. I will try to make it as neutral as possible.

Her whole private area from front to back is red and itchy. Especially itchy is the rear portion. She also has numbness in her upper thigh portion around the area. She also has a lot of pain & has been taking ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs & still has some pain.

She has been to the gyno 3 times. They did blood work to test for STD’s & she has none. They also swabbed the area to test for an infection & there is none. They told her there is nothing more they can do for her & that she should try a neurologist since she has numbing in her thighs.

She has an appt with her internist tomorrow & she is requesting blood work. She wants to know her WBC count to see if there in an infection in her system.

Any thoughts?? I really have never heard of such symptoms with the numbing of the thighs as well. Any suggestions will be of help.

Thanks in advance

shingles? That's the only thing that comes to mind...

Could it be two seperate things?  Like perhaps an allergy to something she's washing her underwear in or something, and then the numbness in the thighs something seperate, like a nerve issue.

That could be it! The numbness in the thigh could definitely be some sort of pinched nerve...sciatica gone wrong (although that generally is numbing/burning on the outside of the thigh) does her skin burn like a sunburn? That could very likely be a nerve.

My sciatic pain during pregnancy was always in the back and down my butt

that's what I meant to say and got sidetracked by my screeching kids, lol! but sometimes it is also down the side pretty severely.
