non toxic wood good quality table for toddler

I want to get my almost 2 y/o DD a nice table for sitting and drawing/eating/playing.  She has some lovely chairs my DH made her but no table.  I'd love some recommendations.  A few friends I have recommended KidKraft brand, but I was (sorry if I sound snotty here I don't want anyone to take it the wrong way) looking for something that is not sold at Walmart, KWIM?  Solid wood, truly non toxic finish.  I'd love any ideas.  I'd like to get it for her birthday so even if it is pricey I can always split it with my mom or other family.

Also any easel ideas for the future?  I'm thinking after the table that's the next big present and want to start getting ideas now.

I really like the Lilipad table/chair sets, but they, um, are definitely not in my price range: http://www.lilipadstudioshop.com/cart.php?target=category&category_id=60

I almost bought the Palumba set: http://www.palumba.com/product/farmhouse_table_chairs_set/487/

In the end, my mother-in-law found a guy who handmade unfinished cedar and maple log tables--for an additional cost, he finished the set with a low VOC finish. I think she found him on ebay, although I don't know the name of the seller. You might look there.

We went to a local wood working shop.  The man in the shop makes some of the furniture and can order other pieces and finish them in his shop.  We had him finish the table top and chair tops with a water based non-toxic finish and had him paint the legs of the table and chairs with a non-toxic paint.  (he matched the blue on their doll housesmile.gif).

My husband usually does our wood working projects but he didn't have time.  He is normally very critical but was very happy with the finished product.  I'm guessing you might have a similar shop in your area and can stop in and see the quality of their work.

The set was a little more expensive but, I think, the quality is better than most store bought sets.
