I'm asking because my almost two year old was diagnosed with an allergic reaction to an antibiotic but I think he may have measles.
Â
For the past seven days I have been giving him amoxicillin. He was in extreme pain with a double ear infection, and after 5 sleepless nights and no improvement with my natural remedies I brought him to the doctor. It is the first time he has ever taken an antibiotic. Yesterday morning he had what appeared to be a diaper rash but otherwise was in good condition. He was fine when he went down for his nap, but woke with little red spots on his belly. In the next few hours, the spots spread to his back, arms, legs, and face. I took him to the immediate care and the doctor there diagnosed him with an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I was told to stop the antibiotic and give him benadryl every 6 hours for the next two days, which I'm doing now. The doctor said it wasn't chicken pox since the spots don't have blisters, not measles since no sores in the mouth, and so most likely was an allergy especially since he didn't have a fever. Oh yeah, he isn't vaccinated at  all.Â
Â
I'm concerned because he woke this morning with way more spots all over, more fussy than he's ever been (which could be the benadryl since he's never taken that either), and it just keeps getting worse. Some of the spots look like they have a tiny white center - not a bump in the center but just kind of white in the center now. He feels feverish - just slightly but I don't have a thermometer on hand so not certain about whether he has a slight fever or not. I called the doctor's office, and the nurse told me not to worry unless he wasn't able to breathe or the spots developed blisters or a purplish appearance. He just looks terrible and feels even worse so I have a feeling something more serious is happening. Like the allergic reaction is out of control or he really has measles, not an allergic reaction. I just moved to a new state a few weeks ago, and don't know the doctor or trust the doctor much at all.Â

Anyone with a similar experience or some knowledge that might help me with this? He is itchy or maybe just bothered by the bumps and keeps touching and scratching his face especially. If he did have measles, what complications are there to watch for?
