any advice?

i'm currently 6 months pregnant with my third child. we had a hard time getting insurance, so i didn't see a doctor for regular visits until last month. my doctor had me do a gtt immediately, and then ordered another one this month. her justification for making me do another one hour test was that i was over 200 lbs on my first visit. in the last month, i've put on another 4 lbs, which is completely normal. when i questioned her reasoning, the doc got really snarky with me, and i snarked right back. on my refusing to take another one, due to the results from the first being completely normal, i have been told to find not only another doctor, but another clinic. needless to say, i'm irate. not only did this woman come across as calling me fat, but now i have to find another doc because she ordered tests and is trying to bully me into compliance.

My advice is move on! There is clearly a better doctor or midwife out there for you and you're lucky to be getting away from her NOW while you still have plenty of time to find someone great! Good for you for not consenting to unnecessary tests. Good riddance to her!

Definitely need a different doc/clinic.  Do you know anyone in your area that you can ask for recommendations?   Despite the stress of looking for someone else at this point at least you know now about this doc!

I started out 196 this time and just did the one GT test, I have gained a lot (and I did with my first as well) - 56 pounds by the end with DD, probably about 45 with this one.  And with neither MW clinic that I have used have they ever even said anything about my weight.  They weigh me each time, write it down, move on.

Check in with other mamas in your area on the appropriate "Tribal Areas" forum. I am positive that there is a better provider for you out there! Best of luck. hug2.gif
