Pregnant, and sick.Need some serious advice, this is making me weak.

I hope at least a few people can give me some idea's PLEASE.Its bad.One week since I had it now,bad dry hard cough,couching up green hard chuncks,when I can,blocked nose,sore throat.Losing voice.This is crazy.

Since I moved in with my SO I have been sick like crazy.I never got sick before. His kids go to daycare, and our always sick so its no wonder.Plus he has some mold on the walls in the bathroom, and he has carpet. My old house had no carpet it was all wood floors, and tile.

My midwife gave me a precription to a zpak,I am holding off taking it though.I thought I was. This is the worst night yet.I have used essential oils in warm stem humitifier everynight,a zillion salt water gargles.

Sad thing is I got my back moler pulled out yesterday, and I am fine with that, have not even took tylonal. But this cold or sinus infection whatever it is is making me bonkers.

Might just get a dry socket for all my trying to spit up of the mucus.

Any idea's on what to do?I am really just feeling weak, and not sure about the antibiotic.I am only 10 weeks.During December aswell I had to take 5 shots of antibiotics, and two difrent antibiotcs just to get rid of a strep throat problem, that didn't want to leave.

Hi gingergrltea,

I am very sorry you are feeling so miserable. The horrible cough and mucus you are suffering through sounds exactly like what I had when I was pregnant. guilty.gif I can understand how bad you must be feeling. I have read on these posts about sodium ascorbate (vit C) being a helpful remedy for illness, especially coughs (wish I had known before.) Home-made chicken soup made from bone broth can do wonders too!

Probiotics would really help boost your immune system - sounds like you could use some more "good guys" to help you fight this nasty infection, especially since you took antibiotics recently. Are you drinking enough water too?

Vitamin C is great - I just want to caution against "Emergenc-C" packets, which contain too much Vitamin A to be safe for pregnant women!

It is better to take the abx than to keep an active infection going. You have the script please take the meds.

Ughhhh sister!!! I have had the same thing for the past THREE weeks - luckily I am in the "tolerable" stage now - but I'm due April 19th, so I take nothing. Having the molar pulled and dealing with daycare sickness at the same time though - oh geez!

My MW recommended a product called "FluGo" that is pregnancy safe - it's made by Native Remedies and you can purchase it online. She also told me to drink the Yogi Cold Tea - I'm already drinking their pregnancy tea, but this one is called "Cold Season." All the herbs are pregnancy safe.

I kept the humidifier on, added some essential oils and carried around a saline mister. Besides that, drinking a good amount of fluids - tea, water and juices and resting have worked the best. I went heavy on the fresh garlic (since it is a natural antibiotic) with my meals.

I had all four wisdom teeth out at once, along with 2 molars on the same day and never even filled the Rx they gave me for pain meds. I just flushed the area well constantly with salt water - I think they had me do 50/50 peroxide and water in the beginning as well....which would help your sore throat.

I agree with the PP who recommended the Probiotics - especially since you were treated for strep and your body is under a good amount of stress between being sick and pregnant, having an extraction and dealing with your SO's mold and sicky little ones!

Just watch your temperature - a high fever is the only thing that I would really worry about - also if that mucus doesn't change to a decent color soon - hard, dark "chunks" for more than a few days would make me nervous (think respiratory infection).
