Dental Work First Tri.

Thread Starter

I had a bad infection in my mouth. At first I got the lidocain shots, and got a filling. It still hurt really bad so I went back, and got my lidocain, and the denist pulled it.I feel so much better.I guess I have decay on ever tooth.DR said I need to use floride toothpaste.

I didn't let them do any xrays, and I have not taken any tylonal or pain meds for it.

I am worried about the lidocain.I am only 10 weeks.

Don't panic.  Here is the drug info on lidocaine and pregnancy

Pregnancy:
Teratogenic Effects:
Pregnancy Category B.
Reproduction studies have been performed in rats at doses up to 6.6 times the maximum human doses and have revealed no significant findings. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, this drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Bear in mind, also, the pregnancy category applies to the drug, not the route by which it's given. Lidocaine used locally will not get into your system as much as if you got it by IV, so your baby's exposure will be comparatively minimal.
