VENT: I anyway snore when I'm pregnant since whatever passageways are slightly swollen. But now I have a virus I got from DH which has swollen my tonsils and I can't SLEEP AND BREATHE at the same time. IN ANY POSITION. I have had a gazillion dreams tonight where I can't breathe and I finally manage to wake myself up. Now I've take some ibuprofen and am sipping hot honey-and-lemon but I NEED to sleep. I've been exhausted for DAYS and finally managed to get to bed early tonight. Considering self-tonsillectomy...
The suckiest bunch of sucks that ever...
Be sure to sterilize the knife!
Just kidding, but I sympathize for sure. I have a super busy day tomorrow, but have been up for a couple hours now just because I can't get comfortable in bed, and there's nothing wrong with my breathing apparatus. Sounds like the suckiest. I hope you get some rest!
Yeah, I am not sleeping either. For me, its a whole host of reasons - not one thing in particular. I think the biggest one is just plain old stress.
So, OP, I am sure you have heard all this before, but I remember having an awful, terrible, no breathing whatsoever type-cold when I was about this far along with DD, and I found that this combination right before bed really helped:
sit in a steamy bathroom for a while with some eucalyptus oil being diffused
use the neti-pot
irrigate nasal passages with saline or homeopathic nasal spray (A. Vogel Sinna is good)
elevate the head of the bed
and for gosh sakes, take benadryl for a night or two so you can catch up on a little rest! You won't heal unless you sleep, at least a little.
I hope things are easing up for you today, mama. Sending you lots of healing vibes!
I second the taking the meds for a little sleep. I am by no means a medication advocate, but when I had the flu last week... at night I absolutely had to take a decongestant to make it through the night. You can't handle being sick annnnnd no sleep annnnd being pregnant.
I'm not sleeping either. But now mine is bc of leg cramps and the racing mind. I have been trying everything and nothing works. I am now doing the whole walk around all day in a sleep daze while DD gets annoyed that I am just sitting watching her play haha. It is maddening.
I went through the same thing a month ago. I had to sleep sittin up on the sofa & the only way I could fall asleep was watching the TV. I woke up every hour or two, it really sucked. You might want to talk to your doc. I ended up resorting to decongestant & it turned out I had a sinuse infection & when that cleared up I got an ear infection. I ended up seeing an ENT & my hearing is not back 100% yet.
