Kerrygold butter and cheese

I finally found the butter at Trader Joe's and was excited b/c it's 100% grass-fed. I just wanted to let you all know I wrote the company to ask if they used any chemical pesticides on the grass and they wrote me back and said

"The resulting dairy products are all-natural. Cows are not given antibiotics or growth hormones that can find their way into the milk, and butter and cheeses are made without additives or preservatives.  Ireland is the ideal environment for the production of milk and milk products from grass. Irish dairy farmers manage their small holdings (40+ acres) tightly to ensure the optimum access of their herds to fresh, edible and nutritious grass. Cows must be well fed and maintained at the right body condition in order to stay fertile and produce quality milk and this is key to quality dairying in Ireland.  Any pesticide use on pasture would interfere with dairying and is not countenanced."

So in a nut shell they aren't allowed to pesticide the grass. Thought you all would appreciate hearing this info!

Awesome! Their cheese is awesome too. Both are cheaper at Costco than Trader Joes though. Especially the cheese...its about half the price at Costco.

I love that butter but it is hard to find in my area.  I recently ran across their garlic and herb compound butter, so good!

They sell it at Hannaford's, Stop and Shop, BJ's, and Trader Joe's by me. I had just started really researching about it all. The dairies they get it from are all small (less than 40 acre) farms and family run. Then they make the butter and cheeses by hand. So I guess if you can't do it yourself they are the next best thing haha. They are mailing me coupons too.

So serious question for all you people, this butter is $$ where we are, and we use a lot of butter. Do you use the kerry gold for everything or just "raw eating"?

I only use it for raw eating, but that's really because I like the taste so much. It actually costs less than the organic butter around here.

I use it just for raw eating

it's only $2.50 at trader joe's by me.

I don't buy other butter aka "white butter"

Its about $10 for 2 sticks where we can find it. I can buy about 20 sticks of regular butter for that price or 12 sticks of organic.

That is crazy! I've got to admit the one thing I don't like about Kerrygold is that it is the opposite of local. I buy a local dairy brand for all my "real" butter needs (still not cheap though) and Kerrygold as a snack. We live off their cheese though. Almost every meal.

I've never seen it for $2.50 though. Here its about $3.70-$4.50 for an 8oz cube. Even at Trader Joes (and Costco).

Love their butter and cheese.  Their butter is my 2nd favorite, behind the OV pasuted butter.

We love Kerrygold butter here, both for the taste and the fact that is 100% grass-fed.  Now if only I could get my hands on some coupons...

good to know! I just bought a giant block of it from Costco!

How agressively do they pasteurize the cream?
