Good pbx (or fermented foods) to take with nystatin?

Not sure if this is forum, but since I'm a TFer (and lurk here often) I figured I'd post here shy.gif

So I've been battling what I am thinking is yeast for close to 5 years.  Symptoms are ITCHY rash on skin, occasional vaginal YI, and itchy anus; basically I just itch all the time.  The OB always diagnoses me with a yeast infection and gives me abx (which I haven't taken in 2 years), general doc and derm both diagnose me with eczema have told me to use cortisone freely; although 3 weeks ago the derm said I had eczema caused by cortisone use and told me to use all these creams. The cortisone cream they had me on was a nystatin/cortisone combo, it would almost instantly take away the rash and itch, so I'm thinking that the topical nystatin was killing the yeast but the cortisone was making the yeast grow more in the body and thinning out my skin?  ND did extensive testing and I tested positive for yeast but also low in vit D (which has not come up after a year of FCLO).  That is the general run down.  I've been on every natural anti yeast remedy under the sun and nothing is working.

I'm going in to my OB on Fri and I'm sure I'll be diagnosed with a yeast infection.  I will not take abx, but I'm hoping to REALLY push for nystatin.  My question (finally getting to it lol) is what probiotics should I be taking to repopulate as the nystatin kills the yeast?  Can I just eat straight kefir grains?

also, should I be concerned about mercury detox if I take nystatin?

If you cannot get a script for the nystatin, you might want to try s. boulardii (I use the Jarrow brand).  It is a good yeast that kills off the bad yeast.  And then you'd want to take a multi-strain good probiotic to populate the areas where the bad yeasts are dying off.

As for the mercury detox--maybe lots of sodium ascorbate and/or clay?

Thank you for your reply!!!

So frustrated with my doctor's visit... told "it's eczema and you need to get back on cortisone, some people just suffer w/ eczema and you'll have to control it for live with cortisone" sigh

I'll give that s. boulardii a try... at this point I'm willing to try anything!

You may find a lot more info over in the health and healing forum if you do a search and then post.

From the top of my head, yes it could be mercury, but it could also just be base digestion, needing enzymes and betaine to boost stomach acid.

You can also make kombucha and kefier for good bacteria - search for these as well for more info.  Taken with every meal can be a life saver, and improve digestion dramatically, as well as making your own sauerkraut, which naturally changes stomach function to its proper state.

I found a great deal of help from seeing a classical homeopath as well as working on my digestion with the above mentioned.  Otherwise, I'd still be chasing the yeast beast around.

Good luck!
