Open-minded Pediatrician in Bryn Mawr, PA area

Hi, Everyone!

I'm due in May and looking for an open-minded Pediatrician. I am going to The Birth Center in Bryn Mawr, PA currently, and I would like to find a Pediatrician affiliated with Bryn Mawr Hospital. The Birth Center gave me a list of Pediatricians, but I'm not sure who is open-minded. I am looking for a Pediatrician who listens and is willing to have a conversation with me about a vaccination schedule, and not someone who will overload my child with antibiotics, etc. If anyone knows of any nice, more progressive Pediatricians out there near Bryn Mawr, Pa I would love to hear about them!

we have been happy with Dr. Christine Stallkamp in Narberth- Mainline Family Medicine.  I know they have rights at Lankenau, but not sure about Bryn Mawr.  Either way, if you are at the birth center, you would just bring the baby when you leave.

I interviewed Dr. Harold Gordon in Wayne a few weeks ago. He is a BM attending ped, and was actually my ped, ahem, just a few years ago. :) I really liked his answers and was all ready to switch over from a CHOP-affiliate in Paoli that I don't particularly like, but they are an out -of-network provider for my insurance and we'd have to switch to a co-pay plan to go to them. We have decided that since our current plan is 100% coverage for everything as long as we go to certain providers, that we will make do with the providers that are covered. There was a female doc on the BMBC list that I think I have heard good things about. I want to say she had a last name that was Indian-sounding of some sort. Sorry I can't remember anything else about her. Good luck!

I'm also expecting and having my baby at the Bryn Mawr Birth Center! Our Pediatrician is Dr. Penny Soppas who's also the Director of Newborn care at the Birth Center. She's associated with the hospital somehow but she works down in Drexel Hill at Drexel Hill Pediatrics.

I have heard 1201 pediatrics is a nice place to go. My daughter took her child to bryn mawr pediatrics saw dr swatski first couple of times and dr noni one time. Dr noni was very kind and took her time with my daughter however she was not impressed with dr swatski she rushed us she spoke down to us and we once witnessed her speak unkindly to her staff. I would not recommened dr swatski. I would recommened dr. noni but unfortunatly the dr's are all part time so you possibly could end up seeing dr. swatski. Sadly my daughter has made the decision to leave Bryn Mawr Pediatrics and move to 1201 pediatrics. I hope this helps and good luck

I take my children to Bryn Mawr Pediatrics. I see Dr. Swatski and I find her to be kind and caring. She has never "talked down" to me. When I have questions, she calls me back, not a nurse. I have also seen for  Dr. Noni for sick visits and I like her very much as well. I like the staff there, and I like the fact that that I get a receptionist, not a tape when I call.

I just wanted to say that this thread is helpful for me, too!  I am due in June, also giving birth at the Birth Center, and will be seeking a vegan-friendly pediatrician, who also supports a conservative vaccination schedule, something I am just starting to learn about.

I went to The Birth Center for all of my prenatal care but unfortunately needed an emergency c-section and could not give birth there.  I first went to Andorra Peds with my daughter but switched after 2 visits.  They have dogs walking around the office and exams rooms which is GROSS, and I was not impressed with how the doctor spoke to us or our baby.  We are first time parents and she made us feel stupid when we asked questions.  We switched to Bryn Mawr Peds and had Dr. Swatski and loved her.  She was completely fine with us not wanting to give our daughter the Hep B vaccine even though it was suggested at that visit.  She seemed very caring towards our daughter and did not make us feel stupid when we asked our questions.  She told us any additional questions we had we could call her and she would personally call us back.  The other doctor at that practice, Dr. Noni, is associated with The Birth Center.  We have not met her yet but have heard many good things about her as well.
