My DD had her preschool intervention screening yesterday through our local school district. Â (We requested an evaluation for services after she was too old for EI.) Â In our home, and school psychologist and speech/language pathologist administered *something* that was scored. Â There were a variety of cognitive and physical things--patterns, shapes, colors, hopping on one foot, identify right and left, putting dice in a cup and dumping them out. Â It took about an hour and a half, and at the end they briefly showed my a "score sheet" with minimum standards in one column and then her scores in another. Â I think there were 6 or so categories scored? Â FWIW, she is 3y2m, and the minimum scores were mostly in the high teens (18,19) with one that was 24. Â If it matters, the lines on the sheet were green?
Â
Does anyone know what this tool was? Â I was curious to read more about it.
Â
In case anyone is curious, we requested testing because of some sensory seeking behaviors. DD is not deficient in anything, so she does not qualify for services. Â The professionals, though, said that she demonstrated many behaviors often associated with attention disorders but that she is way too young for any sort of official screening or diagnosis for them. Â We did get some good tips for working with her and some resources to check out, so the entire thing wasn't a bust.
