6 month will not stay still

Nursing him can be very frustrating for me since he will not sit still most of the time. On the couch he lays in my lap with his head on a pillow and kicks me in the boobies! Or if the tv is on he'll look at the tv instead of nursing. He'll also scratch my hands (this really hurts b/c I have a constant bobo on one of them) In bed he lays beside me and often he'll smack me in the head!

How can I get him to sit still?

We are going through this right now too!  my son is 5 months and I feel like I am feeding an acrobat somedays!  I have been trying to bring him into dark quiet rooms and when that is not possible I cover him with whatever is handy  He still arches and kicks but will usually stayed latched (ouch). I also found nursing him in the moby works well!

Would love to see other suggestions

we had this!  i found that there is a way to kind of hook your arm that's not holding the boob over one leg and kind of up under the other leg, woven through, and that helped a little...  i found that the kicking happened more when dd's legs were dangling.  however, that might not be enough, and once or twice, i had to unlatch and say something like 'when you're still you can have boobie" and she caught on pretty fast.  that's a normal thing at that age (but from what i hear from friends if you don't nip that behavior or do what ina may calls teach 'nursing manners' you will really regret it later)

did you see the kellymom site page?  (looook at the pictures!  so funny! ) http://www.kellymom.com/bf/older-baby/nursing-manners.html

Nursing manners! I've heard this term, but have no idea what they are or how to teach them. I'm going to learn though and teach them to my son. Thanks so much for the link. So far I do the arms looped around his legs thing sometimes and always say gentle gentle.
