Just a vent

This happened two days ago and I'm still beating myself up about it.  Things are really tight right now.  You know, like every single dollar counts.  On Monday I taught a piano lesson and was paid $25 cash.  That evening I had to buy Metro tickets.  I guess when I pulled out the $5 to pay I accidentally made the $20 fall out of my wallet.  Argh!  Losing twenty bucks sucks no matter what, but right now it's a BIG deal, yk?

Just venting here in the hopes to get it off my mind (I even had a nightmare about it last night)!  Thanks for listening.  :)

I'm still upset about $100  I lost a few years ago.  Money wasn't even tight, things were still ok, but losing money just sucks.

That does suck! I still remember losing my wallet (on my way to the bank for a deposit) that had $200 cash and my last paycheck. This was   supposed to cover part of my tuition and books at the time. Thankfully I was able to get the check cancelled and re-issued but losing that $200 was painful.

Not totally related but I remember one time I was at the mall (15 yrs ago or so) and a lady dropped some cash out of her purse, I was nice enough to return it to her and she was just nasty as could be to me.  Kinda like  'what are you doing and why are you giving this to me'.  I kinda felt like saying, well then, give it back.  LOL.

I hope your week gets better.. Hugs

Thanks guys!  I'm glad it was only $20 (not $100 or $200!) but it still stresses me out.  It does help to vent here though.  ;)

Zebra - that is so weird!  Why on earth would you be nasty to someone trying to give you back money!

Ugh. That really sucks. Hopefully you'll be able to pick up a gig that will more than make up the loss. I usually find that when things were really looking bad (when I was totally freelancing) and I was wondering where my rent was coming from, some gig would magically come my way.

If you're looking for students and/or wedding gigs, I've had a lot of luck advertising on kijiji. I also get quite a few gigs through my website. Do you have one?

Take care, Kate!

Awwww hugs.... that is an awful feeling.  I still remember going to Six Flags (amusement park) when I was in high school (20+ years ago!) and losing all of my money for the day out of my pocket while I was in line for a ride.  We were on some stairs when I discovered it was gone, and I remember looking behind me in a panic and seeing some punk kid pointing and laughing at me.  I am sure he found it / took it, and I'm sure he knew it was mine.

We went to lost & found after we got off the ride anyway.  "Excuse me, did anyone turn in $40?"  They rolled their eyes so far back into their head I'm surprised they didn't give themselves a stroke.  "Uh, no.  If anyone found any money around here I'm sure they'd just keep it."

I never told my parents because they would have said "I told you so" and "What you were thinking", etc etc etc.  Very humiliating experience. Thankfully my friends covered for me.

Anyway, sorry to derail, but I am very sorry that happened to you.

Thanks guys!

Leila, I actually have had a couple of gigs AND a new student come along since then.  Yay!  I haven't tried kijiji yet, though I will if word of mouth doesn't do the trick to get more students.  I actually just started teaching again (besides the occasional adult student of jazz) since I had kids.  I put out an email to all the parents on my email list to see if anyone was interested and I've already landed 3 students.  Originally I was going to just try to find 4 students for Mon afternoon, and then try to see about getting into the homeschool market (so I could teach during the daytime which is way more convenient for me), but I might need to add some more students just to make sure we always have enough to make our payments and put food on the table!

Anyhoo... enough with my novel, lol!

Oh, that stinks!  I recently lost $100 in cash in my home.  It's driving me crazy that I can't find it, but I'm guessing it somehow got mixed in with the trash/recycling because I can't find it anywhere.

Oh that would drive me nuts!

We have an electric piano and one of our kids once shoved a twenty down into it. It took us a year to get up the courage and the energy to remove the screws and get to it. We were afraid we would break it and that would cost way more than 20 bucks! I think we finally did it when we needed money for pizza or something. bag.gif
