Baby getting too big to sleep on chest ...help!

I'm hoping someone else out there has gone through this and can offer some advice or reassurance. I co sleep with my 3 month old daughter and for the most part really enjoy it! Since birth she has always just slept on my chest and that has worked fine up until recently. She is now getting to a size and level of mobility that her sleeping on top of me just isn't comfortable for me (and I suspect, for  her) half of her is always falling/hanging off my body which causes her to squirm which causes me to wake up...you get the idea...it's an all-night wiggle-fest.  I would love to be able tojust have her lie next to me on the bed - but she absolutely refuses to sleep this way. She will only sleep (albeit, wiggly sleep) when ON my person. I have tried waiting until she is in deep slumber and then easing her off onto the mattress but she always wakes up and become furious when she finds herself not on top of mom. I'm not really sure what to do, but it's become bad enough that neither of us are really sleeping well at all through the night. When she was smaller she'd just wake up to eat a couple times, but now she wakes up over and over again out of what appears to be discomfort. Any advice here?

My son slept on my chest for the first month of his life because he wouldn't sleep any other way.  On his own, he started being able to sleep in different positions, although he NEVER wanted to sleep flat on his back.  I transitioned him to a little bouncy chair and because it was a little inclined, he slept there okay.  At around 4 months old, he finally would sleep flat on his back.

Are you sure she's waking up from discomfort because she is uncomfortable from her sleeping position?  Or could she be starting to teethe and is feeling discomfort from that?  I'm sure you have tried this already- but can you nurse her laying down (so you are facing her and she is facing you) and have her fall asleep that way?  You could also cradle her with your free arm while doing this, and maybe she'll be comfortable enough to sleep this way (hopefully you would be comfortable too!).  If that doesn't work, are you willing to try a way so that she's not actually in your bed?  Like she could sleep in a bouncy chair by your bed or in a swing.  You just need to find what works best for you family.  How will all of you get the best sleep?
