Grinding teeth?

16-month-old DS has learned a new trick - grinding his teeth. Maybe he's doing it to relieve pain/pressure? His four molars are all either partially or fully through, and he's cutting four other teeth, so there's a lot going on in there. But he'll look right at me and make this incredibly loud grinding noise with his teeth. It's honestly freaking me out and is a little like nails on a chalkboard to me, but I'm trying not to react. I mean, if it hurts, he'll stop, right? Should I be trying to discourage it? It just sounds awful.

I think all kids go through that phase... I agree with you, it's AWFUL! The common advice seems to be just ignore it and eventually it will go away, and that's what happened with my two. But I feel for you!

Yes it is horrible but I agree with pp, ignore and it will stop, hopefully sooner than later!
