Anyone feeling creative? I need help with a garden-themed birthday...

I'm terrible at this kind of thing.  We know we want to do a vegetable garden theme for Bea's first birthday, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for inexpensive and hopefully reusable decorations.  All we know so far is that there will be a carrot cake!  We were thinking some little terra cotta flower pots might come in handy...but, really.  This is so not my forte.  Anyone have any ideas?  (BTW - It's just a little 15-ish people house party with family and a few friends, a few snacks but no meal.  DD will be the only child there.)

Some ideas

Terra cotta planters with veggie seedlings and recipes on the front (these make cute favors too!)

A pretty colorful banner (cloth) that can be reused for years to come?

No reason you couldn't do carrot cake cupcakes!

Alright. I'm hijacking this idea. I hope no one minds! DD is totally having a garden themed first birthday. I just informed DH, he's on board.

Fantastic, fantastic, adorable!

What about big watering cans filled with flowers for decorations? Or for a veggie theme, filled with planted vegs (carrots or something leafy on top?)?

So, we've been thinking about this some more and are thinking about using a big galvanized tin watering can, perhaps even for drinks.  We're also going to get terra cotta planters and trays and use them for holding food (with some sort of a liner).  AND taking someone else's idea, little planted herb seedlings for party favors.  We're going to trace and color carrots, peppers, cucumbers, etc. on poster board with pipe cleaner accents and string them up like a garland, and have vases with veggies instead of flowers in them - definitely kale, not sure what else.  AND we just got some really cute carrot fabric to make a small table cloth.  That's all we've got so far....aw.  Our little Beans are going to be one!

Oh, and cupcake garden out of carrot cake is a great idea!
