It's official :-)

My divorced was finalized yesterday morning.  I'm still a little in shock...everything had been moving really slow, so my lawyer decided to get us all (me and my lawyer, and Ex and his lawyer) together for a settlement conference on Wednesday to try and hurry things along.  It worked!  We signed off on the paperwork that afternoon, and the judge made it official the next morning.  orngbiggrin.gif

I plan to do a little of all of these this weekend to celebrate...

It's kind of a long story, but in a nutshell Ex and his lawyer never could seem to coordinate their schedules enough to get much done on their end, plus I think he was in the frame of mind that anything he could do to make my life miserable (by dragging his feet, by complaining and making a huge deal over the custody agreement, etc.), he was going to do.

Once we all got together, he was surprisingly fine with the visitation I offered (EOW only, Friday at 5:00 to Sunday at 5:00), and that was the most important part to me.  Financially, things did not go as well as I would have liked, and maybe I should have been firmer, I don't know.  I'm supposed to receive child support (though he is already trying to talk me out of keeping that pesky wage withholding order I put in our agreement), and he will pay half of the health insurance/other medical costs for DS.  But I'm on my own for daycare/education costs and extracurricular activity costs, which might end up being a good thing because if I'm paying for it, then Ex will have less to hold over my head.  Anyway, I got the custody/visitation that I think is best for DS, and that was the main issue I was concerned with.

I'm still surprised that it moved as quickly as it did in the end...the whole meeting took about 2 hours.  And this was after months of Ex making a fuss about Every.Single.Thing in our proposed divorce agreement.
