Can weight loss in a breastfed baby be normal?

My 5 mos old has lost about 8 oz over the past two weeks.  She is healthy and nursing well and hasn't been ill at all.  I think my supply is ok, I hear her swallowing while nursing.  She has begun to get more active, rolling all over the place and is trying hard to get up on all fours.  I was thinking that an increase in activity could be the cause, but is weight loss in an infant ever "normal?"

I think weight can plateau when babies start to get active, but the loss of 8 ounces in a week would concern me enough that I would probably call my health care provider. She hasn't otherwise changed her nursing habits?

If she continues to loose weight you may want to look into gluten intolerance/celiac. Sometimes this can happen when an intolerant baby begins solids (containing gluten)

What they said, and two more thoughts:

Are wet diapers sufficient (6+/day)? If so then I would consider the information here...

http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/weight-gain.html#wtgain

I would make sure to follow that information (exact same scale, naked, take into account last feed and wet/dirty diaper, etc.) regardless of the possible issue.
