Do you have your period back? - Page 2

@Blessed: I have no idea. With my dd I got AF back at 5 months pp although I ebf her for 10 full months. This time ds is almost 8 months old and she's no where in sight, and I only ebf him for 4 months. He still nurses a lot and around the clock, though, but so did my dd. This time around I did spot once at around 5 months and thought she was back, but that was a false alarm. Back then I thought I got AF so soon because I was still very much overweight and I wasn't losing any weight from nursing. But it's the same thing this time - I'm not losing any weight from nursing and I'm still 45 lbs overweight. I can't explain it at all. It makes no sense. But I don't miss AF at all. I've got a short cycle and I hate getting visits so often.

I am also amazed at the variety! I would chalk it up to: every body is different. Hormones, genetics, diet, and a myriad of other factors probably influence it.

We are 9.5 months PP and no sign of a period yet, here's hoping for another 9 months without!! lol.gif

Question: I know everyone is different, but why do some women get to have a longer "no-menstruation" phase than others? I nurse my 8month old day and ALL night!...as I mentioned, I started menstruating weeks pp. ??? just wondering. :)

I don't know. I have a friend who did everything "right" with regards to nursing on demand, no paci's, nursing through the night, etc... and still got them back within a month or two.

13 months and nothing here either. i thought i was ovulating a couple times, so expected my period back a couple weeks later, but so far, nothing... i guess my system is still just revving up?

i'm happy enough with it... we aren't planning to try for another for a long while anyway, but i do have a couple of friends with one year olds and no AF who are quite concerned as they were hoping to start TTC pretty soon (or have been trying already). i guess some people are just more sensitive to the levels of prolactin present in the body while breastfeeding, and other people aren't.

Thank for the replies... :)

With DS1, I didn't get mine back until I weaned him (early, due to illness and lack of education/support) at 4 months.  This time around, DS2 is 7 months and no signs of starting my cycles yet.  I've lost my pregnancy weight plus 50 pounds though.

i got mine back at 6mo pp, while exclusively breastfeeding every two hours round the clock. i was hoping it would be longer before it came back. i did not miss aunty flo at all.
