what is a good bike trailer for occasional use? There are so many, I'm not sure what to get.

We have a honeybee that holds 2 kids.  It is easy to take on and off, which I like.  We got an extra connector for our bikes, so that we could leave that part on both my bike and DH bike, and I think it was around $10 for that.  It also has a 5pt restraint for both kids, this is a bonus for my houdini littlest one!  I know that it was not the cheapest one I could have gotten, but it has held up great and I like how it works.

A good friend of mine and her husband are avid bicyclists (like, they plan races in our area, that avid), and they swear by their Burley trailer.

We have a 1 seater chariot with the jogging kit. It was a a gift and is an amazing stroller/trailer! I love that I can buy any replacement part i need. Make sure whichever brand you choose has this option.

I was shocked to see how much the Burleys cost. I bought a Step 2 one for less than $100, which is perfect for the amount that I use it. That being said--how old is your babe? It doesn't have a lot of support, and the child still needs to wear a helmet.

We have a hand-me-down Instep one.  It's been fine for our use which was a couple times a month 10-20 miles roundtrip and only one light child.  If you're just going to use it occasionally, I would just look around at Craigslist, garage sales, or consignment shops.
