I have a DD that has a digestive disorder (severe motility issues, chronic constipation, severe reflux) and is not bowel trained.
Now FINALLY at 5.5 yrs old she is pee trained. YIPEEEEEE!!!!
We used to do Pull-Ups. What now?? I dont want to 'lose' the pee training if she is wearing pull-ups.... but the poop is just so yucky and messy and hard to clean when she has a poop accident (which due to her current medications is several times a day--- loose ones, so no shaking it out and simply changing undies).
Her Drs (including a GI) has been less than helpful on ideas on how to retain the pee training and making it easier (and less embarrassing) for her to get cleaned up for poop.
Suggestions??
She is SO PROUD to be in undies for pee...but with little to no bowel control, she gets very very embarrassed when she has accidents.
We do timed sits at home, periodic clean-outs, and daily medication. But we have been unsuccessful in getting her on a poop schedule so that it is predictable and she really has no idea when or how much she will go when she does have an accident. (no hiding in the corners, no crossing of legs, etc-- it just happens).
An insert? A special type of undies?
She is off to K this summer (starts in late July here) and we are planning on a 504 for her....but anyone BTDT? How well did it work and how good was the staff at bathroom issues? Any teasing problems?
She is age appropriate or above in her other skills-- so there is no way she would get an aide or IEP.
Thanks!
