Ok this happened a few weeks ago so it's not urgent but I just want some advice for next time. My 17 month old suddenly broke out in hives one night. Possible suspects....at lunch we'd had the Eden gomasio which contains sesame seeds and a few types of seaweed. As he'd had Sesame and other seaweeds before I assumed they were safe but afterwards the label said the dulse (which he'd never had before) might contain shellfish. Other contenders are the new massage oil i used that evening or the fact that we'd spent an hour in the pet store that afternoon. So trying to remain calm, i put coconut oil on the hives, gave him some acerola powder for vitamin c and probioics and slippery elm, took off his jammies so we could continue to monitor and just let him nurse and doze all night. He was not itchy or uncomfortable. The next day they were getting worse so i took him to dr who said the allergy was mild (my baby covered in welts???!!!) to gve an antihistamine so in case it got more serious he had something already working. I obeyed but only half a dose but it kept him up until 2 am at which point the hives were fading so we didnt do more
We are an allergic family with anaphlaxis on both sides of extended relatives. Myself and kids have always been more the sensitive tummy types but their dad is known to have stuff like this. So where do i go from here? I'm carrying benadryl with me everywhere but if theres something natural i can have for a first line i will. Should i get allergy testing? Should I challenge this ever? Any thoughts on cod liver oil? Iwas hoping to start our family on green pastures fclo but we havent used that before. He has had carlsons and Vital choice salmon oil and I could keep him on either of those for a time. Or forever. I've been gluten free since he was 6 weeks, have gone grain free with our family about the past month to help all of our immune systems. The only dairy he/I have is goat kefir and cheese. We may do SCD or gaps soon. Since this reaction he's been getting funny little circles of dry skin on his trunk. Dr said they are dry skin and def not ringworm. He has a tendency to get bad croupy colds and hang onto them a long time. Otherwise very healthy happy and thriving. We eat a wap diet and hes a good eater and still nursing. Right now hes taking salmon oil cell salts and some homeopathics and chinese herbs for immune boosting
Tia for any advice!!
