Would you eat this meat?

The "best by" daye is Mar 7, but it's been in the freezer for WELL over a week. I put it in the fridge yesterday, and it's still frozen on the outside today. But it smells slightly off. Not nasty or anything, but I don't typically notice any smell from frozen ground beef.

I'm frying it for a spaghetti type dish. Would you eat it?

I was going to tell you to go ahead and eat it until you mentioned the smell. How long after you bought it did you stick it in the freezer? You may just think it smells off because you are questioning it...do you have somebody else around that can confirm the sniff test? If not, I would vote to be better safe than sorry...

Exdp said it smelled fine, so I cooked it. It didn't smell rotton to me, just...it had a smell. It smelled perfectly fine while cooking- not "off" at all-  and tasted fine, so I put it in dinner. Wish us luck wink1.gif

Yep, alive and well :) Well, most of us- the kids and I are perfectly fine. Exdp woke up this morning really dizzy and unwell feeling, and stayed in bed most of the day. He didn't have stomach related issues, so hopefully I didn't do it to him!

Because of the smell...no.

Otherwise, if it was frozen by the "due date" - yes.
