Mollie, the mono or di question is about if they share a inner or outer sac and or placenta. It also related to if they are identical, though they could still be either.

I suggest the simulator article on twins, it really explained everything to me really well when I was learning. Heck I didn't know babies has two sacs in the womb, it's amazing what I learned this year!

Thank you! I think mine are from two separate eggs, since I was on fertility meds. I had 2 mature follicles close to O time on the U/S. At my most recent one, the babies seemed to be really far apart too, the tech couldn't even get them in the same picture, one on the left & one on the right. But who knows for sure, right??

Update:  My girls arrived on March 3.

Welcome, to all the new pregnant mamas!!

* Name? (if you feel like it) Rachel

* You and maybe your partners age at the birth? We will both be 38.

* Are the babies Mono or Di or what combo of both? Not sure yet... we are still waiting for ultrasound confirmation, but we're suspecting fraternal twins. We heard two heartbeats tonight in opposite places and at different rates... and I am measuring 23% larger than I should be... and I am certain of my dates.

* What number of kids will is be for you? #1 & #2

* Genders? Will you be finding out? Yes, we'll find out!

* EDD and or planned birth timing? EDD Sept. 10

* State you live in? Oregon

* Anything else you want to share? We are not 100% sure yet, but I have suspected twins from the beginning because we had a twin tubal resulting in surgery just two months prior to conceiving, and my mother is a twin, among many other factors. We will confirm with an u/s on April 4th and so far are planning a home birth, planning to CD and EBF, etc. We are also both full-time students. And of course, are terrified and excited all at once!!

* Anything else you want to share?

I just found out yesterday! My husband and I are still in shock- it doesn't run in my family at all and I never saw this one coming. I started a new job this month AND we are under contract on what will (hopefully) be our first house, so there is A LOT going on right now. To say I'm overwhelmed is a huge understatement.

My first reaction to twins was fear and uncontrolled sobbing. I think I might be slowly warming up to the idea, but I'm really looking forward to connecting to other ladies like you guys since I feel like I just started a whole new ballgame...

Cancel my roll call... false alarm. We have only one... :)

I'm really curious to hear how other MoMs-to-be are doing.

I've had a really, really rough trimester where I've lost a bit of weight and literally spend as much time as humanly possible lounging on the couch. I'm normally very active, so it's been hard for me. I'm 11.5 weeks and hoping for an improvement soon.

I don't have much to compare it to (just a miscarriage pg) but I feel like my suffering is from the twin factor. Did/are you having a rough start? If things improved, when did they improve for you?

For those farther along, how are you feeling? Are you able to be pretty physically active?

How common IS bed rest with twins (the prospect freaks me out- though in retrospect, I've been on modified bed rest over the past 1.5 months with how horrible I've felt)?

I've started a new job a few weeks ago and within a few weeks, it's going to be doing physical field work (I'm a biologist). I'm really nervous about my ability to do my work while pg with twins...

I had a really bad first trimester (we did not know it was twins).  Even the begining of my second was still bad and I only started to feel better after I started eating enough food for everyone.  I would look into some books on twins and proper pregnancy diet to nourish you and the babies.  I really think I felt so bad because I was not eating enough, which made me feel yucky, which in turn made me NOT want to eat or do anything.

I try to get at least 100 grams of protein a day and around 2800-3000 calories a day.  It sounds like a lot and you have to make your self eat sometimes but I felt so much better.  Also, eating every 1.5 to 2 hours keeps your blood sugar nice and steady and can make you feel better.

I am 26 weeks and have just now made it back up to my prepreg weight.

Hi...I am new and am still coming to terms with expecting more than one! I'm glad to have found a group of people who know what this is like...

  • Name? (if you feel like it)  Abbey

  • You and maybe your partners age at the birth?  I'll be 32 and he'll be 34

  • Are the babies Mono or Di or what combo of both?  They are diamniotic, dichorionic

  • What number of kids will is be for you?  #2 and #3

  • Genders? Will you be finding out?  Yes, we need to...I'm a planner, and we are going to have a really hard time if we have to come up with 4 names instead of 2!

  • EDD and or planned birth timing?   due 10/9/11

  • State you live in?  Virginia

  • Anything else you want to share?  I'm kind of freaking out about this. I was never that woman who thought it would be fun to have twins, and (gasp) I don't actually like being pregnant that much. I got through it fine and have a lovely, wonderful 2 1/2 year old (who was totally worth it!), but things have been pretty rough so far with this pregnancy...I'm trying to work on my attitude and eat well even though I'm still feeling pretty sick most days. Hoping this will all pass soon and that my brain will get on board before too long! I'm normally a pretty positive and quick-to-adjust person, so I'm not used to needing this long to get used to things - but this is a MAJOR life change, so I'm trying to give myself a break. :-)

I'm doing OK, I feel fine actually. I'm 10w1d today. All my pregnancies have been easy, I've never had morning sickness, although I've had some nausea with this one. I'm still paranoid that something's wrong, after having a M/C last year. I have my 1st appt. tomorrow, and I've been praying that everything is OK.
