37 weeks--2yo still *loves* nursing, which seems to bring on contractions

I know a lot of you tandem nurse and nurse while pg.  For the longest time I felt like this baby would come early because in my 2nd trimester I was having a lot of contractions, but then they tapered off in the 3rd trimester.  Now I'm at 37 weeks... and noticing that when the 2yo--almost 3yo, nurses, there definitely seems to be a contraction reaction!  If you were nursing while pg, did your baby come a little bit early?  2yo has very good nursing manners and we have a good nursing relationship.  He knows that when the baby comes that the baby will be first and have priority.  My supply had totally dried up but just this morning he told me that he is getting milk, which I expressed and saw that it was colostrum.  Also, my breasts are starting to feel more "engorged" in the morning (but not like milk engorged, just bigger and a little firmer--still just colostrum though.)  I had a kind of low supply when the 2yo was an infant, so I'm actually looking forward to having the 2yo help stimulate higher milk production through tandem nursing.  But both of my boys came close to 40 weeks, and even though mw said that she will deliver starting at 37 weeks, she said only if the baby is at least 5 lbs. (previous births were 9-1 and 9-10, so that shouldn't be a problem) and I just got my blood drawn today to make sure my iron went back up (from being borderline too low at 28 weeks) so those results won't be ready until next week.  And mw told me that birth at 37 weeks, while considered full term, is rare in her experience.  Point being, if I go into labor now it might make mw nervous.  So... would you/did you cut your older nursling off, or would you just let nature take its course, especially since the 37 week mark has been reached (magic number when mw agrees to attend hb, given the 5lb limit is reached and the iron levels are ok).

Also too, I am keeping in mind that many of you have talked about having contractions for weeks prior to birth and mine are not going on all day.

Thank you!!!

well, DD was born at 39 weeks, I'm still nursing her and 39 weeks 6days. I think it's like all natural induction methods. it won't send you into labor unless you're within a couple of days of going into labor on your own.

Yes I agree that if you've been nursing all this time then it's still fine. The baby won't come unless it's ready to be born anyway. (And your uterus is probably really good and toned for when the real thing happens!)
