I have no idea if this will be safe to eat or not!
I heated 2 chicken legs on the stove yesterday around 2pm, and when they were browned but not cooked through, I put them into a crockpot half full with boiling water, with the crockpot on high.
BUT NOT PLUGGED IN.
Duh! I discovered the mistake at 6:30pm, and the water, which was mostly covering the chicken, was still tepid. With a 3 yo melting down and much to do before bed, I filled the crockpot to the brim with boiling water, plugged it in!, and have left it over night. (I know this was a lazy attempt, and I should have heated them back to boiling fast on the stove, but circumstances didn't allow it.)
On high, my crockpot keeps things bubbling, with the lid rattling softly. About a quarter of the water has boiled off, and it smells good... but...
I'm just going to keep it boiling til I get some advice!
